Prof. Daniel Adjei-Boateng Assumes Office as Dean of QAPO

The Quality Assurance and Planning Office (QAPO) on 28th November 2025 held a brief handing over ceremony to mark the transition of leadership from Professor Jerry John Kponyo, the immediate past Dean, to Professor Daniel Adjei-Boateng, the newly appointed Dean.

The brief ceremony, witnessed by Mr. Abraham Adusei, Ms Marcia Opoku-Gyamfi, Nicholas Bediako, Reindorf Agyapong, Ms Akosua Amposah and Gabriel Afriyie, saw the formal signing of the handover notes and exchange of pleasantries. The handover marks a new chapter for QAPO as it continues to play a pivotal role in upholding excellence, institutional effectiveness and strategic growth at KNUST.

Prof. Adjei-Boateng, who previously served as Head of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Unit, brings extensive experience in quality assurance and accreditation processes to his new role. A distinguished aquaculture scientist in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, his academic and research work spans sustainable aquaculture, fish nutrition, environmental management, and the links between aquatic ecosystems and food security.

In his new role as Dean, Prof. Adjei-Boateng will lead efforts to strengthen institutional quality assurance frameworks, enhance academic programme accreditation processes, and align quality systems with the University’s strategic planning priorities. His leadership is expected to foster greater accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation across all academic and administrative units.

Prof. Kponyo expressed confidence in his successor’s ability to advance QAPO’s mandate. He underscored the importance of quality assurance in sustaining KNUST’s global reputation and pledged his support for ongoing initiatives.
